our people

Jean Claude Munyezamu
Executive Director & Founder
Jean-Claude Munyezamu is a Rwandan Canadian who escaped the genocide in 1994 and volunteered in refugee camps in Somalia and Sudan before moving to Canada in 1998. In 2010, learning that children in his neighbourhood were getting into trouble, Jean-Claude took some soccer balls to a nearby green space on a Saturday morning. He continues to nurture community relationships with each participating kid and parent, while directing our growing organization.

Christa Holten
Volunteer & Program Coordinator
Christa has been working with Soccer Without Boundaries since 2018, organizing and supporting our volunteers, facilitating events, writing grants, fixing Wi-Fi routers, pumping soccer balls and generally doing what it takes to get going!

Wedad Al-Houari
Food Hamper Coordinator
Born and raised in Calgary, Wedad has been volunteering with Soccer Without Boundaries for over 3 years. Since March, Wedad is the Assistant Coordinator and manages and prepares the food hampers for families in need around Calgary.

bruce Ruzindana
Youth Education Coordinator
Bruce graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. His natural curiosity and excitement for learning has led him to share his passion with others through tutoring high school courses, teaching piano lessons, and even moving to France to teach English at an engineering university! His desire to share his knowledge combined with his teaching experience has motivated him to develop effective tutoring methods for diverse learning styles. To top it off – he is fluent in both French and English!
